Optimal and sub‐optimal rate and power allocation for random networks

Abstract We consider the power and rate allocation for a transmission in wireless network where transmitter knows channel state of desired receiver but only statistics interferes. While this scenario is often encountered practice, extremely important dense networks, its optimal solution was not yet known. The analysis considers nodes that are distributed according to homogeneous Poisson point process, hence applies both cellular ad‐hoc networks. derive (for first time) at node, based on gain receiver. also networks characterized by outage model. Considering sub‐optimal allocations, we advocate use simple threshold scheduling scheme linear adaptation allocation. prove these suboptimal schemes close optimal, any fading. present simulation results over Rayleigh fading channels show maximum loss 1.5% between advocated schemes.
